Notes

LGz. 340 doubts a link with Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac mkr 'to sell' (S22); HALOT 581 takes Arabic makara 'to betray' as a denominative of that root. Akkadian makru is a synonym-list word (CAD M/1 138). HALOT 582 records Dahood's rival reading of Gn 49:5 mǝkērōtēhem as 'knives'.
