Notes

HALOT 716 sets NWS nṣḥ 'to subdue, triumph' (Hebrew, Phoenician, Aramaic) under one root with Syriac 'to shine' and Arabic and Ethiopic 'to be clear, pure'. Tomback (T 220) sets Ph. nṣḥ 'to conquer' beside J.Aram. neṣaḥ 'to be victorious', Syr. neṣaḥ 'to shine out, be brilliant' and Arab. naṣaḥa 'to be pure, reliable'.
