Notes

PS *plḥ 'to be red-hot' (SEDonline 1756); EDA I 222 (◊P0376) connects Akk. pelû 'to be red' with Gz. falḥa and its EthS cognates, which would suggest an underlying meaning 'to be red-hot'. Cf. 1752 *pVlaḥ- 'split; till'.
