Notes
HALOT 745 joins Hebrew sôd, Syriac swādā, Arabic sawād and Sabaic ms3wd; Beeston (apud Biella 502) compares Hebrew sōd. SD 139 reads ms3wd 'hall, audience chamber', as a collective 'class of ?landlords?', and ms3wdt '?counsellor'. Lane 1461 marks Arabic sāwada 'speak secretly with' tropical and derives it from sawād 'person' (929). HALOT 745 adds Ugaritic sd with a query. Not 3071 *swd 'be chief, lord' (Sab s1wd).
