Notes

HALOT 1021 sets up *ṣyh 'dry up, wither' for ṣiyyâ, with JArm. ṣǝwāʾ, Syr. ṣǝwī, Mnd. ṢWA and Arb. ṣawā; HALOT 1020 derives II *ṣî 'creatures of the dry land' (2187) from ṣiyyâ. Not 1177 *ṣVḥ- 'be dry' (ḥ) or 834 *ṣVday- 'be thirsty'.
