Notes
Lipiński joins Arabic ṣadaʿa 'to break' to Libyco-Berber zḍāg 'to camp', i.e. to break a journey, and to Assyro-Babylonian D-stem ṣuddū 'to supply with food' (OLA80 §63.3). HALOT puts ṣuddû instead beside Hebrew II ṣyd hitp. 'to take along as provisions for a journey' and Arabic zwd II 'to supply with provisions for a journey' (HALOT 1020), with Ugaritic mṣd 'food, food-offering' (HALOT 1021); DULAT reads mṣd (I) as '(feast / banquet of) game' < /ṣ-d/ (DULAT, 578), the root of 847.
