Notes

CAD Z 69 reads zarriqu from Sum. lú.igi.su₄.su₄ 'man with multicolored eyes' and Syr. zārqā, Arb. zurqa, azraq, all referring to a brightness or color of the eyes. Payne Smith files zārqā under zrq 'scatter, sprinkle'. Cf. 1449 *zVrVḳ- 'throw' and 1148 *zurayḳ 'a certain bird'.
