Notes

HALOT 267 compares Akk. zanānu 'to care for, look after' with MHeb. zwn 'to feed'; Biblical Hebrew has the verb only by conjecture (Jb 36:31). HALOT 565 queries Syr. māzōnā as a Canaanite loan. Not 1448 *ḏVnVm- 'rain' (Akk. zanānu A), K0469 *zVyVn- 'adorn' or SA055 *mwn 'food'.
