Commentary
Oil-derivative modifier, on the tablets of HT, KH and ARKH always among oil and liquid commodities (OLE+X, CYP, VIN); on the metal object HT Zf 167 it stands alone. HT 123+124a sets it after OLIV four times: 8¼ of 31, 8¾ of 31½ and 4¼ of 15 give 26.6–28.3%, and the fraction after OLIV 16, 4 […], is damaged. šamnu ‘oil’, Akk. šamnu ‘oil, fat, cream’ (CAD Š/1 321), Heb. šemen (HALOT 1567). Weak point: the commodity function is firmer than the word, and OLE also carries šamnu.
