Commentary
Second element of HT 90 SI-RU-MA-RI-TA₂, written as one word (GORILA I 143): Ṣill-marʾita ‘Shade of the Lady’, the Amorite pattern of Ṣill-Haddu (Gelb 1980, no. 6482) and Ṣill-ʿAnat, with a goddess (no. 4716). Feminine of marʾ- ‘lord’: Sabaic mrʾt ‘woman, girl; lady, divine or human’ (Biella 1982, 283), Akkadian mārtu (marʾatu, merʾatu) (CAD M/1 300), Aramaic mārtā ‘lady’ (the name Martha), Arabic marʾat-. The glottal stop is unwritten, and TA₂ gives final -ta as in KI-RE-TA₂. See MA-RE.
