Commentary

HT 8b, HT 29, HT 88 and ZA 10b: a personal name in all four. Linear B pa-ja-ro is a masculine personal name in the Knossian roster KN As(2) 1519.6, and DMic compares it with Linear A PA-JA-RE. Gordon reads Egyptian Pꜣy-Rꜥ ‘He-of-Re’ (Gordon 1966a, 31, §127). PNM has the man’s name pꜣ-rꜥ ‘he (of) Ra’ (Ranke I, 114.11, as PNM cites it), used from Thutmose III to Amenhotep III and spelled pꜣjj-rꜥ under Hatshepsut, the date of the LM IB tablets (Ilin-Tomich 2025); JA writes the jj. Amarna writes the same Re as -ri- in na-ap-ḫur-ri-ia, Nfr-ḫprw-rꜥ ‘beautiful of form is Rē’ (Hess 1993, 116). Rival: a Minoan name, as Davis treats the pair (Davis 2026, 44). Four attestations.
