Commentary

HT 116a PI-*34-TE GRA 5, then OLE 5, OLE+MI 1, *OLIV+TU 2: one of six entries under U-TA-RO · TE, each a sign group with GRA and a number, as KU-PA-JA, PU-RA₂, SI+SE, SI-KI-NE and QA-NU-MA. Read PI-QI-TE with *34 = QI. Akkadian piqittu(m), oblique piqitti, sense 1 ‘provisioning, provisions’ (CAD P 388), from paqādu(m) ‘entrust, assign, inspect’ (Huehnergard 1997, 104, 614); the entry draws grain, oil and olives. Rivals: bayti ‘house; temple, household, estate’ (DULAT 243; HALOT 124; CAD B 282) with *34 = ai, an institution among recipients that include PU-RA₂ and SI+SE; a recipient name, as its neighbours. Younger compares ]PI-MI-NA-TE (AP Za 2.2), with *34 for MI-NA. One witness. Weak point: *34 = qi is a proposed value.
