Commentary

GORILA I 217 and the photograph show that the right side and lower center are lost; this is a damaged account, not continuous prose. Only SI-DI-JA can presently be identified beyond its administrative role. The initial break before ]U-*49 prevents HT126a from supporting either a complete U-*49 word or the translation ‘and palm/tree produce.’

Epigraphic note

GORILA I 217: .1 DA-NA-SI · *318 ·[, broken after the second divider; .2 A-NA-[·] 1, the 1 dotted, a lost sign after NA, not a divider (its note: a pebble makes the sign hard to identify); .3–9 U[ ]J SI-DI-JA 1[ ]U-*49 1 PI[ ]62[ ]2[. GORILA I 217 and the photograph show extensive loss along the right and lower edges. DA-NA-SI is intact but remains untranslated; *318 is an unresolved administrative or transaction sign. A-NA-[?], U[, PI[, and the final quantities are incomplete. SI-DI-JA is probably the personal name Sidiya/Šadiya: compare Ugaritic alphabetic śdy (BAH 214, 7, o 14; ORACC P521356.17.3) and syllabic {m}ša-di-ia (RS 15.0173, r. 2′; ORACC P503354.14.2). Its earlier derivation from Shaddai is not established. Because the break precedes ]U-*49, HT126a preserves the sequence but does not establish a complete U-*49 word or an initial conjunction.
