Commentary

Six identical nodules from Portico 11/Room 13 at Haghia Triada (HT Wa 1014–1018, 1028): sealings of an institution, the office of a steward or prefect. √s-k-n (š-k-n), the title family of Ug. skn ‘prefect, governor; manager, administrator’ (DULAT 746), the Amarna gloss sú-ki-na (DULAT 746) and SI-KI-NE Sikinet. Rival: √s-k-k ‘to cover’, Heb. sukkā ‘booth’. Weak point: SI-KA writes neither the n of the title nor a suffix. IO Za 6 I-NA-TA-I-ZU-DI-SI-KA ends in a homograph, šiqā ‘she who gives drink’ (√š-q-y).
