Commentary

IO Za 6, position 1: TA-NA-I-*301-U-TI-NU · I-NA-TA-I-ZU-DI-SI-KA · JA-SA-SA-RA-ME ·. tan-ʿinā-u-tī-n(u) ‘may you (f.) answer us’: TA the 2fs prefix, NA the N-stem, I-*301 the root ʿ-n-y with *301 = na, U the indicative -u, TI the 2fs subject clitic -tī, NU the 1cp object -n. The verb addresses and puns on the theonym that follows, I-NA-TA-I ʿInatī ‘my Anat’. The frame is that of TA-NA-RA-TE-U-TI-NU (IO Za 2, √r-ṣ-y), with the root slot changed. Ugaritic tʿnyn /taʿniyūna/ (KTU 1.23:12) supports the root and a t-…-n profile, not the segmentation. The family: TA-NA-I-*301-TI on PS Za 2, where GORILA reads the last sign as an uncertain TI and Ferrara, Montecchi and Valério (2022, 87) as E, ‘may you (f.) answer’ with TI, ‘may she or you answer’ with E; A-TA-I-*301-DE-KA on ZA Zb 3, ‘who answered for you’. One attestation of this form, three of the family. See I-NA-TA-I.
