Commentary
PE 2: TO-*49-RE 1, the last entry of a Petras commodity list, after QA-QA-DA ½ and TO-ME ⅓. *49 is read PALM/TREE as a logogram; at the proposed syllabic value mi, TO-MI-RE gives t-m-r, tōmir, palm or date-palm produce: Proto-Semitic *tam(V)r-, Heb. tāmār ‘date palm’ (HALOT 1756), Ugaritic tmrm, read ‘dates’ by Pardee (DULAT 859), Arb. tamr. TO writes the ō of Heb. tōmer ‘palm’ (Judg 4:5). Final RE writes the coda /r/. Weak point: *49 = mi is a proposed value, and TO-MI-RE is one of its two syllabic witnesses, with DA-U-MI. One attestation. See TO-MA-RO.
