Commentary

PY R 1 .1–2 TI-MA-RU-WI-TE, a ligature and VIN 90, the only entry (GORILA I 322). TI-MA writes Tīmar ‘palm’, the final r unwritten before the l of luwwīt, both in the R-series, with the i of Heb. timmōrā ‘palm-shaped ornament’ (HALOT 1757). RU-WI-TE writes luwwīt, the feminine of luwwī as in DU-RU-WI (HT 25a). A name with a title, as Minaean lwʾtn S¹lmy ‘the priestess Salmay’, a priestess’s daughter (M 333). Rival: TI-MA-RU Tamar, Amorite TA-MA-RU (Gelb 1980, no. 6027), with WI-TE from √w-d-d, as in WI-TE-JA-MU. See TO-MA-RO.
