Commentary

VIN with the adjunct RA: KE Zb 5, ZA 15b, ZA 6b and the doubtful seal CR Zg 3. Beside plain VIN on ZA 15b (KU-RO VIN 78, VIN+RA 17) it is a distinct wine category, and ZA 6b sets VIN+RA 40 against VIN+KA 10. RA writes the ra- of raqḥ ‘spiced’, Hebrew yayin hāreqaḥ ‘spiced wine’ (Song 8:2; HALOT 409): the wine of the r-q-ḥ series with OLE+RI riqqu ‘perfumed oil’, *401 ruqqû and RO-QA rōqaḥ. Rival: raḥṣu ‘washed, filtered’ (√r-ḥ-ṣ; Ug. rḥṣ, Heb. rāḥaṣ). Four attestations.
