Commentary

ARKH 2 .3–4 ZU-*301-SE-DE-*21F-*118 6, read ṯannān ṣēd ḥiṭṭa ‘the chariot soldiers: provision of wheat, 6’, under SI-DA-TE ṣēdat ‘provisions’, between A-SI-DA-TO-I 12 and A-SU-PU-WA 4 (GORILA III 6–7). *301 and *21F over erasures, no dividers. SE-DE ṣēd, √ṣ-y-d as SI-DA-TE. Ugarit lists the ṯnnm as a group with named members (KTU 4.68:70; 4.126:4), with a rb ṯnnm (4.382:5). ZU writes ṯ before any vowel or none, as in A-ZU-RA ʾAṯirat. Egyptian snny, ‘of the chariotry’, takes the arrow determinative (Hoch 1994, 262, no. 371). Alalakh allots sheep to the šanannu as a body (CAD Š/1 366). Weak point: the must list turns to wheat without a logogram; *21F-*118 takes its numeral without one on ZA 14 too (*21F-*118 1). Rival: one name ZU-*301-SE-DE + ḥiṭṭa 6. One witness.
