Commentary

PL Zf 1 is a fragmentary LM I inscription on a silver pin from the immediate vicinity of Platanos Tholos A, a funerary rather than peak-sanctuary context (Monti 2022, 113). It is read sinistroverse. Initial ]TA and final [?]-I-[?] are word fragments, WI and MU in WI-TE-JA-MU are doubtful, and the ending of JA-SA-SA-RA-[ME?] is restored. The final preserved phrase is provisionally read /tannî qînâ nīnūn/, ‘Chant a dirge, O offspring.’ The lack of a divider within TA-NU-NI-KI-NA and the ambiguity between grammatically regular plural/collective -ūn and case -un keep the identifications speculative; the morphology itself is well formed. ‘Posterity’ remains a possible interpretive gloss for /nīnūn/, not the direct translation. Duhoux’s structural analysis makes WI-TE-JA-MU and U-QE-TI possible onomastic X-terms, but this is a syntactic classification, not a decipherment.

Epigraphic note

Funerary context. GORILA IV 161 normalizes ]TA · WI-TE-JA-MU-U-QE-TI · JA-SA-SA-RA-ME · TA-NU-NI-KI-NA · NI-NU-NI · [·]-I-[·], ME dotted, with no divider after MU (Younger divides WI-TE-JA-MU U-QE-TI); its note allows [·]-I-MA.
