Commentary

A recipient in the HT 9a/9b wine lists under SA-RO · TE · VIN (2½, 2) and on HT 122a (1), one roster in three copies, among names and titles. *324 = SO: Linear A has no other SO sign, and Ferrara, Montecchi and Valério set LA 324 beside LA 363/364 as a Haghia Triada variant (2022, 88), compared with Linear B so (ibid. 98). SO-DI-RA = sōdir, active participle of s-d-r with ō for older ā and DI for d: Akk. sadāru ‘to array, set in a row’ (CAD S 11); Heb. śĕdērôt ‘ranks’ (2 Kgs 11:8, 15). SI-DA-RE stands on the same HT 122a roster. Rivals: šōṭēr ‘officer’ (√š-ṭ-r; Exod 5:6–19), which needs DI for ṭ; ʾaddīr ‘noble’ (Ug. yn (…) l ádrm ‘wine (…) for the nobles’, KTU 4.246:7, DULAT 21; Ebla a-ti-ir ‘powerful’, a name, Pagan 1998, row 845), which needs *324 for ʾa, a value plain A already writes. See SI-DA-RO.
