Commentary

HT 126a .1 DA-NA-SI · *318 ·, heading the tablet, before A-NA-[·] 1 and SI-DI-JA 1 (GORILA I 217). ḏā ‘the one of’, as in DA-MI-NU, + Naśiʾ, the Amorite god of NŠʾ ‘to carry, to raise’ (Gelb 1980, 27), whom Gelb’s names write NA-SI sign for sign: IA-AḪ-WI-NA-SI, IA-DU-UR-NA-SI, NI-IQ-MI-LA-NA-SI, ZI-ID-KU-LA-NA-SI (nos. 2874, 3218, 5051, 6457). ‘He of Naśiʾ’, the type of Amorite Zu-dIš-ḫa-ra ‘He of Išḫara’ (Gelb no. 6598). NA-SI also closes U-MI-NA-SI, the heading of HT 117a and HT 28b. Rival: ḏā-Nasr, the god Nasr of Ḥimyar (Q 71:23; Faris 1952, 10), with r unwritten.
