Commentary

A spelling of KI-RE-TA₂ with RI for RE; the corpus form has TA₂. HT 114a and HT 121 both pair it with SA-RA₂ in one administrative template, SA-RA₂ read as a recipient or institution, the queen or the royal establishment. Huehnergard gives Ugaritic krt /kirta/ ‘Kirta’ and lkrt /li-kirta/ ‘belonging to the story of Kirta’, and rejects ‘keret’ as a Ugaritic vocalization (Huehnergard 2012, 60, 68). Biblical Hebrew kərētī ‘Kerethite’ differs in vocalism. For Bronze Age Ki-ir-ta, see KI-RE-TA₂. See KI-RE-TA-NA.
