Commentary
HT 55a .1 ]KI-RO · MA-RE 1, whole and undotted, the first of single entries owed (GORILA I 106–107). mā-rē, the -MA-RE of JI-NU-MA-RE ‘wine-lords’; Aramaic mārēʾ ‘lord’, mārēʾ malkîn ‘lord of kings’ (Dan 2:47), and Ebla mar-a ‘the lord’ (Pagan 1998, row 3651). Ugarit’s mrủ, mur-u, is a class name of uncertain etymology (DULAT 564). Rival: a personal name. Weak point: MA-RE stands alone among single entries owed. One witness. See MA-RI-TA₂.
