Commentary
PH 7a .3 JA-RU-MA-NE (GORILA I 295), at the head of a line whose left edge is broken through JA: sign-groups may have stood before it, as well as a divider. The line breaks after NE, where a trace may be a dotted unit stroke (note .3). Yarīmān, the yaqtul of √r-w-m with the hypocoristic -ān: Ugarit has the name, yrmn, syllabic ia/ya-ri-ma-nu/na (DULAT 966; Kinlaw 1967, 132), beside bare yrm, the JA-RE-MI of HT 87, both clipped from the Amorite Yarim-DN names (Gelb 1980, nos. 3432–3442: Yarim-Lim, Yarim-Addu). Weak point: RU for the ri of ia-ri-ma-nu. Rival: a yaqtul from rummān ‘pomegranate’ (PS *rummān-). One attestation. See JA-RE-MI.
