Commentary

True minimal pair with HT17 (same scribe, heading, and second line)—the variable third slot holds Siddāri there and Dūmatī here, name for name. DU-ME-DI is read as a PN: the DE-ME-TE = Dimtu control fails (HT 94b reads RA-[?]-DE-ME-TE, one word with a sign lost after RA), and the √dwm name family—AmoriteDūmat-An (cuneiform-explicit DU-MA-TA-AN), Hebrew Dūmāh (Gen 25:14), Harding’s dmt/dwmt/dymt cluster—gives the PN an etymological first vowel where a Dimtu/Tower-estate oblique needs an unexplained u-grade. Dūmatī’s 43½ is large but precedented for single recipients on wine tablets (TE-TU 56 on HT13, I-MI-SA-RA 43 on HT27a). The Tower-estate oblique remains the rival.
