Commentary

HT 9a SA-RO · TE · VIN · heads a wine list, the slot RA-*164-TI holds on HT 17 and HT 19, where SA-RO 10 and SA-RO 5½ stand under VIN; HT 42+59 has SA-RO OLE+KI 8, OLE+U 2. GORILA V 295 reads the second sign as A 315 = Linear B RO₂ (Schrijver 2014, 10 n. 9), its foot traced on HT 17.2 and 19.2, one wine series (Montecchi 2010, 23), plain RO on HT 9a.1 and 42+59. Linear B ro₂ writes /rro, llo/ and alternates with ro (Judson 2020, 74), as RA₂ writes the geminate of SA-RA₂ šarra: šarr ‘king’, the O vowel dead as in KU-RO kull (Rendsburg 2026, 203 n. 4). SA-RO (4 tablets) and SA-RA₂ (20) never share a tablet. Schrijver takes sa-ro₂ for a variant of sa-ra₂ (2014, 10 n. 9).
