Commentary
DRA Zg 1, a five-sign retrograde graffito on a clay reel from Drama-Kajrjaka, Bulgaria: DA-DU-*301̣-[?]-[?], the last two signs unread; RILA-S1 D 24 classes the inscription as doubtful. DA-DU opens DA-DU-MI-NE on KN Zf 31 and DA-DU-MA-TA on HT 95a. With *301 = na, dādu-nā ‘our beloved’: Amorite dādum, dawdum ‘beloved’ (DAWD-UM, Gelb 1980, no. 1437), with Ugaritic -nā ‘our’ after the case vowel, as malku-nā ‘our king’. No divider follows *301, so the word runs on into the two lost signs. Rival: the Amorite name type dawdān- (Gelb 1980, nos. 1397, 1407–1408, 1416–1419; Da-da-nu-um, Huffmon 1965, 28). See DA-DU-MI-NE and TA-DI.
