Commentary
KN Zf 31, a silver dress pin from a Mavro Spelio tomb: DA-DỤ-MI-NE between ]SỊ-ZẠ-NE-*310 and QA-MI-*47-NA-RA, DU dotted (GORILA IV 155). A compound of two roots: DA-DU ‘beloved’ + MI-NE, Minos (√m-n-n ‘to allot, portion’). ‘Beloved of DN’ is a name type: Heb. Yədîdyāh (2 Sam 12:25), Ug. ydd il (KTU 1.4 VII 46). The type dādu + DN: Ebla da-du-ʾIl ‘beloved is ʾIl’ (Pagan 1998, row 1402), Mari da-du-ma-lik, da-du-me-er (GlOS 1, 152). Hurrian builds the type on tad- ‘to love’; DA writes /da/ and /ta/. MI-NE is the Ebla name mi-ne (ARET 3 134, 4 15, 12 668, 15 20) and the element of ù-na-mi-ne. Rivals: Sanmartín’s meny ‘(the) love; DN’, √m-n-w/y ‘to love’, entered with a query (GlOS 2, 45); a Hurrian tadu- name. One attestation. See TA-DI, I-DA-DA, DA-DU-*301 and PI-MI-NA-TE.
