Commentary
HT 94b .2 DE-DI 1, both signs whole and undotted, in the KI-RO list of five one-unit entries, between PA-TA-NE and KE-KI-RU (GORILA I 153). The name Dedī ‘my beloved’, of √d-w-d: Ugaritic ddy, syll. da-de₄-ya, du-da-a-ya and ta-di-e (DULAT 264), and the Ugarit names Dadi and Bin-Dadeya (Kinlaw 1967, 47, 37); Amorite da-di-i dādī (Buck 2018, 327); Hebrew Dōday (1 Chr 27:4). Weak point: the comparanda write a or u in the first syllable. Rival: the Hurrian name dḏy, syll. ti-še-ia, te-še-ia (DULAT 264). One witness. See TA-DI.
