Commentary

HT 86a under A-DU and HT 95a–b list MI-NU-TE after DA-ME in grain allocations (HT 86a DA-ME GRA+B 20, MI-NU-TE 20; HT 95a–b DA-ME 10, MI-NU-TE 10), and HT 106 opens MI-NU-TE CYP 6½. Akkadian minūtu: CAD M/2 98 gives ‘amount, number’, and mi-nu-te is written in Tiglath-pileser I’s tally of game, itti mi-nu-te annite ‘with this count’ (AKA 143 iv 33), and in an obscure Middle Assyrian ana mi-nu-te (Ebeling, Parfümrez. 26 ii 20; both CAD M/2 99). Linear A does not mark vowel length, and final TE may carry a support vowel. Rival: a goddess, Amorite Ma-nu-tum (Gelb 1980, no. 4528) and Arabic Manāt (Q 53:20), both with a where MI writes i. See MI+*301.
