Commentary
HT 98a DI-RE-DI-NA ½, a recipient between TA-NA-TI ¾ and TE-*301 ¾. ʾaddīr-dīnā ‘mighty is the verdict’: ʾaddīr as in DI-DE-RU ʾaddīru (√ʾ-d-r), dīn ‘verdict’, the name element diyn (GlOS 1, 155), as in DI-NA-U Dīnāyu and DI-NA-RO Dānīlu (√d-y-n). The NWS sentence name of predicate adjective and noun, the Ebla type ʾaddīr-X ‘X is powerful’: ʾaddīr-ʾIl, ʾaddīr-Malik (Pagan 1998, rows 848, 852), Punic ʾDRBʿL, ʾDRMLK (Benz 1972, 262). DI-RE leaves ʾa- unwritten, as DI-DE-RU and Punic BALDIR, BALIDDIR for bʿl ʾdr (Benz 1972, 262). Rival: a simplex recipient name. Weak point: Punic drops the ʾa- inside the name, DI-RE-DI-NA at its head. One attestation.
