Commentary

HT 20 .4 SA-RE-JU ⅛, after CAPm ⅛ and before TELA, in the list under PA-RO-SU beside KU-MA-JU and QE-KU-RE (GORILA I 36–37). ša-r(ʾ)ē-lu sign for sign: JU writes lu, the nominative of ʾēlu, and RE carries the ē once the ʾ drops at the join. Ugaritic šr ‘Prince, Sovereign’ is El’s title in ỉl šr ‘El, the Sovereign’ (KTU 1.123:3; DULAT 829). Rival: Hurrian Šar-elli, syll. šar-e-li (DULAT s.v. ṯryl; Laroche GLH 78), whose -li mismatches JU. One witness. See SA-RU, I-RA₂, PI-RU-E-JU and DI-NA-RO.
