Commentary
Twenty Haghia Triada accounting tablets; on HT 125a ]SA-RA₂ stands at a broken edge. HT 105 sets KA-PA and SA-RA₂ in parallel before VIR 234 and 235; HT 100 and HT 94a put SA-RA₂ after a closed KU-RO and before a new commodity; HT 97b has SA-RA₂ alone, a docket or recipient label. Montecchi takes it as a sender, recipient or name and excludes a transactional sense (Montecchi 2008, 321). šarra ‘queen, princess’, the queen’s establishment as recipient: Akk. šarratu ‘queen’ (CAD Š/2 72), Heb. śārâ ‘woman of rank, princess’ (HALOT 1354), Amorite šarra without -t, as the Mari name Nanni-šarra beside Nanni-šarrat (Ziegler 1999, 278; see SA-RA). RA₂ writes the geminate, as Linear B ra₂ writes rra, lla beside plain ra (Judson 2020, 74). Rivals: Šar-ra, a man’s name at Alalakh (Niedorf 2008, 490); šeʾārā ‘remainder’ (√š-ʾ-r), where HT 30 and HT 34 write the deficit KI-RO; ‘personnel’, the 100 of HT 94a (Schrijver 2014, 26–29); ‘rations’ (Pope 1958, 16), against HT 105 SA-RA₂ VIR 235.
