Commentary
KA-PA and DA-QE-RA head the two sections of HT 6a; DA-QE-RA heads HT 120, grain to DA-ME, KI-RE-TA-NA and PA-I-TO, against HT 102 under KA-PA (Uchitel 2003, 82). ḏā ‘the one of’ (cf. DA-NA-SI) + qīr ‘walled town’, Moabite qr ‘city’ (HALOT 1099); towns beside villages, Heb. ʿārîm // kᵊpārîm (1 Chr 27:25). Qīr is a town name, as Heb. Qîr Môʾāb, Qîr-Ḥereś (HALOT 1100); a town name is diptotic, genitive -a (Fischer 2002, §§152–153; Ug. ʾugarita, Huehnergard 2012, 40), as Amorite ḏū before a name: ZU-I-LA, ZU-ᵈIŠ-ḪA-RA (Gelb 1980, nos. 6596, 6598). Rivals: diqāru ‘bowl’ (CAD D 157), Ug. dqr ‘pot’ (DULAT 276). See KA-PA.
