Attestations1 cited

  1. HT 36DU-ZU-WA 7 ¹⁄₂He of the Lord (personal name), 7 ½; rival 'the noble one'

Commentary

HT 36 .2 DU-ZU-WA at the end of the line after the 44 ½ of the .1 heading JE-DI *307+*307-GRA+QE, its 7 ½ on .3 over an erasure (GORILA I 69). All three signs whole and undotted. DU ḏū ‘he of’, as in DU-RU-WI and the Amorite names Zu-ḫa-di-im, Zu-ḫa-at-nim (Huffmon 1965, 186); ZU-WA ṯuwā(ʕ) ‘lord’, the w written and the final ʕ unwritten, as Akkadian šuwāʾu ‘master, lord’ and the Old Akkadian appellative su-wa-um, borne by a recipient of land (BIN 8 203:9; CAD Š/3 417). A recipient of grain in the Idaean’s account: the lord’s man. Rival: ḏū ‘possessor of’, ‘the noble one’, as Arabic ḏū. One attestation. Cf. QE-SI-ZU-E.
